From celebrities to the girl next door, everyone wants to look youthful and fresh. Botox injections for wrinkle reduction is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the United States today and we’re here to help you.
One of the questions we hear most often from our clients is this: Does Botox prevent wrinkles? The answer is a resounding yes.
Botox can temporarily eliminate and reduce horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines and even crow’s feet. How does that happen?
The treatment slows down the muscle contractions and those are the things that etch lines into your skin.
Are the corners of your mouth starting to sag? Are you getting that pincushion look in your chin? How about vertical neck cords? Botox can help with all of this.
The best thing about Botox is that it will not affect your nerves or make your face look frozen at all.
For example, let’s say you want to have a firmer eyebrow. Will Botox make you look like you have a permanent arch?
No. We know how to use it properly to give your eyebrows an appealing and sincere look.
The thing you really want to avoid is looking like a makeup department has created a false forehead for you. That’s why using our experienced doctors will keep you away from that. We can judge the size of your muscles and, in turn, the amount of Botox you need.
Botox is an injection and, therefore, it can pinch especially when it’s done between your eyebrows. But we make sure to either use a topical anesthetic or ice the area to numb it before we begin.
Any drug has a side effect but, fortunately, Botox tends to have ones that are minor and short lived. What can happen? You may find a mild droop to an eye but that should go away within about two weeks.
Some of our patients do experience some slight bruising but that also fades quickly.
The results of your treatment begin to show in a couple of days and then develop gradually over the coming weeks. If you’re doing this in preparation for a big event, make sure you leave enough time for recovery. Typically 2 to 3 weeks is a good space of time to place between treatment and your event.
No, not at all. In fact, you don’t have to wait until you have facial wrinkles to use Botox successfully. And there’s no issue with long-term use – some patients use it successfully for as long as 20 years or more.
And getting started early before lines are carved deeply into your skin will make for a more successful outcome.
This is a really good question and one we get from our patients all the time. Naturally, a treatment varies from patient to patient because not everyone is the same.
For the most part, though, a Botox treatment should last between three and a half and four months.
Unless you confess, the only people who will know you’ve had Botox treatments are you and your doctor. Your friends may comment that you look younger and fresher but you don’t have to tell them how you did it.
